Bucknell University | Stadium Press Box Renovation
The Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium is the home for Bucknell University’s Bison football, lacrosse and men’s and women’s track and field teams. The stadium, dedicated in 1924 in honor of the Bucknell University men and women who served in the United States armed services in time of war, was renovated and renamed in 1989 to honor distinguished alumni and multi-sport athlete Christy Mathewson. Mathewson played football and baseball at Bucknell and professionally is best known as a right-handed pitcher for the New York Giants in the early 20th century.
CFB was called on by the Bucknell University to design much needed repairs and improvements to the stadium’s 55 year old press box. The work included reconfiguring the two-story boxes for broadcast camera and radio booths, coaching staff and scoreboard operator. The exterior of the press box was upgraded with new operable window openings, siding, trim and a roof top filming platform. The work also included upgrades to life safety, lighting, structural and mechanical systems which will provide many years of improved service. The project was completed in time for use during the fall campus sports seasons.
